Saudi Arabia's Tawal signs up Ericsson for managed services

Dubai: Saudi Arabia’s Tawal, a telecom tower company, has signed a managed services agreement with Ericsson, which will enable the former to establish infrastructure for telecom operators and offer a “stable platform” to ensure connectivity for all residents.

“A key aspect of the deal is Ericsson’s sustainable solutions which we decided to implement to further reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions in alignment with Vision 2030’s sustainable agenda,” said Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Alhakbani, CEO of Tawal.

Ericsson’s managed services offers an “innovative approach” to operate energy infrastructure for mobile operators and tower companies. Under the terms of the contract, Ericsson will provide energy management solutions. This will result in reduced CO2 emissions, improved network up-time and significant operational expenditure savings.

According to Eva Andren, Vice-President and Head of Managed Services for Ericsson Middle East and Africa, “We believe our new agreement with Tawal will deliver significant benefits by reducing carbon footprint and contributing to an overall improved experience for customers.”
