Dubai: Regional airports continue to pour investment in new airport projects, despite air travel hitting a speed breaker in past years.

Gulf Cooperation Council countries will invest a combined $90 billion (Dh330.52 billion) in the coming years to serve commercial and defence demands, according to Reed Exhibitions, organiser of Airport Show.

On the forefront is now Doha International Airport in terms of project value, at $11 billion, as the country prepares for traffic influx for Fifa World Cup 2022.

UAE development

In the UAE, allocated investments for the development of Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai is estimated at around $8 billion, while Concourse 3 at Dubai International Airport is expected to cost nearly $1.17 billion.

Total investment for Abu Dhabi International Airport midfield is forecast to touch $6.8 billion.
