Etihad Airways announced on Wednesday it will launch flights between Abu Dhabi and Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, from March 2, 2018.

Etihad said the route is being introduced to capitalise on growing demand for flights between the UAE and Azerbaijan. The service will be operated three times a week, using an Airbus A320.

Azerbaijan introduced a visa waiver programme for UAE citizens in November 2015, prompting a rise in travel from the region.
