Eithad and SITA in baggage tracking deal

Dubai: Etihad Airways has selected SITA, the air transport information technology firm, for its “end-to-end” baggage tracking services, SITA said on Monday.

SITA’s “BagJourney” uses data that passes through SITA’s global baggage message and distribution service and forwards it to Etihad via a web application, according to an emailed statement. The information can be shared with Etihad crew and airport staff and will later be available to passengers on their smartphones. The value of the deal was not stated.
