Air India will introduce a new web-based ticketing system at selected travel agents once Air India Express starts operations to the UAE and Oman.
Moreover, Air India's frequent flyer program-me will not be valid on the low-cost airline.
"Selected travel agents, maybe about 15 in Abu Dhabi and 40 or so in Dubai, will be appointed to do the ticketing via a web-based system," a senior official of Air India disclosed.
Air India works with all IATA travel agents. Low-cost airlines enjoy some flexibility with regard to ticketing.
"Low-cost airlines can appoint their own ticketing agents.
"As for the frequent flyer programme, I think it is a big no," the official said.
