Air Arabia cancels flights to 10 countries amidst regional airspace closures

Sharjah: Air Arabia, the low-cost carrier based in Sharjah, has temporarily cancelled flights to and from several countries due to the "current situation and airspace closure." The disruptions affect flights scheduled for Friday, June 13 and Saturday, June 14.

According to a statement from the airline, operations have been temporarily suspended for flights connecting to and from the following ten countries:

• Iran

• Iraq

• Jordan

• Russia

• Armenia

• Uzbekistan

• Azerbaijan

• Georgia

• Kyrgyzstan

• Kazakhstan

The airline also noted that "some other flights may face delays or rerouting" as the situation evolves.

This widespread disruption to air travel across the region follows significant Israeli airstrikes on Iran, which took place in the early hours of Friday, June 13, 2025. In response to the escalating tensions, Iran, Iraq, and Jordan, among other nations, have closed or restricted their airspaces.

These closures significantly impact some of the world's busiest air corridors, especially routes connecting Europe and Asia through the Middle East. Numerous international airlines, including other UAE-based carriers like Emirates, Etihad Airways, and flydubai, have also announced extensive cancellations, delays, and rerouting of their flights due to the volatile geopolitical situation.
