Waring and Gallacher lead after round two of the acciona Open de Espana presented by Madrid on the DP World Tour

Englishman Paul Waring shot the round of the tournament so far, an eight under par 63 for a 36 hole total of 12 under par, to be tied in the lead in the €1.75 million acciona Open de Espana presented by Madrid at Club de Campo Villa de Madrid, Spain.
Waring had a round of 10 birdies and two bogeys with nines of 32 and 31.
37 year-old Waring, currently lies in 80th place in the DP World Tour Rankings, so it is an important week for him, as he strives to get into the top 50 and qualify to play in the season ending $10 million DP World Tour Championship at Jumeirah Golf Estates.
Also on 12 under at the top of the leaderboard is two-time Dubai Desert Classic champion, 47 year-old Stephen Gallacher (Scotland) with two rounds of 65.
In third place a shot behind the co-leaders is another 47 year-old, Scotsman David Drysdale, who is striving for his first win on the DP World Tour in a long and distinguished career.
World number six Jon Rahm and home favourite, shot a round of 68 with four birdies in his last six holes to finish on 10 under in tied fifth alongside Kiradech Aphibarnrat (Thai) and Australia’s Min Woo Lee (65) with a few players on the golf course still to complete their second rounds.
Defending champion and Dubai resident Rafa Cabrera Bello (Spain) shot a second round 69, five shots better than his opening round and was two over for 36 holes, with the cut likely to fall at two under par.
Fellow Dubai resident Adri Arnaus (Spain) shot a second round 75 to miss the cut on 8 over par.
Other notables to miss the 36 hole cut were Abu Dhabi based David Horsey (Eng -1), Ross McGowan (Eng +1), representing Al Hamra Golf Club, Ras Al Khaimah.
