LIV Golf: Dustin Johnson shoots 68 to tie at the top with Carlos Ortiz
Dubai: Two-time major winner Dustin Johnson (US) shot a second round 68 to tie the lead after the second round of the $25 million LIV Golf International at Pumpkin Ridge, Portland, US. He joined first round leader Carlos Ortiz (Mexico) at the top of the leaderboard at eight under par.
Johnson shot eight birdies and at one stage in his round reached 10 under par for a second consecutive 68.
In third place is Branden Grace (RSA), two shots back of the leaders in this 54 hole event, involving a prize fund of $20 million for the 48 player Individual Event and $5 million for the Team Event, with the top three teams winning $3 million, $1.5 million and $500,000 shared amongst the four players.
They are all also chasing the tournament’s first individual cheque of $4 million with second place collecting $2.125 million and third place $1.5 million.
4 ACES GC Team extended their lead in the Team Event to four shots ahead of the Centurion champions, Stingers GC. 4 ACES GC Team comprises an all US fourball: Dustin Johnson, Patrick Reed, Talor Gooch and Pat Perez.
The format of the Team Event is the best two scores count towards the Team score in the first two rounds and the best three scores from the Team in the final round.
The final round takes place on Saturday in the unique LIV Golf shotgun start style.
