LIV Golf debutant Carlos Ortiz of Mexico shot a 5 under par 67 in the first round of the $25 million LIV Golf International at Pumpkin Ridge in Portland, US.

The 48-player individual and 12-team event is being played over 54 holes in three rounds with shotgun starts.

Seven birdies and two bogeys was the story of the round for the 31 year-old who started on hole 9.

Two-time major winner, Dustin Johnson of US lies one back in solo second with five birdies and bogey on hole 18.

In the Team Event 4 ACES GC leads on seven under with the best two scores from the team of four counting for the first two rounds and for the third and final round, the best three scores will count. The lowest overall team score after 54 holes is the team winner.

4 ACES GC Team are two shots ahead of the Centurion Champions, Stingers GC.

4 ACES GC Team comprises: Dustin Johnson, Patrick Reed, Talor Gooch and Pat Perez.

The second round takes place today (Friday).
