This week Gulf News will be following Adrian Meronk (Pol), a recent Dubai resident, who will play in the $6 million Horizon Irish Open at Mount Juliet Estate, Thomastown, Co Kilkenny, Ireland, Thursday 30th June – Sunday 3rd July, 2022, on the DP World Tour.

Adrian, 29, currently lies in 12th place in the 2021-2022 DP World Tour Rankings.

This week’s tournament is number 21 of 44 of the DP World Tour season and the venue is the same as last year, at Mount Juliet Estates, with a full field of 156 players.

Irish favourites

Included in the field are Irish favourites Shane Lowry, Padraig Harrington, Seamus Power plus lots more, as well as some UAE associated players: Dubai residents Adri Arnaus and Rafa Cabrera Bello, both from Spain, along with Abu Dhabi resident David Horsey (Eng). The 2020 Dubai Desert Classic champion, Lucas Herbert (Aus), who went on to win the 2021 edition of the Irish Open, currently 48th in the OWGR, will also be one of those to watch in this week’s field.

A new name to many with Dubai connections and playing this week is 30 year-old Canadian Aaron Cockerill, who represents The Els Club and currently stands 49th in the DP World Tour Rankings. His standout performance so far this season was his tied third spot in the ISPS Handa Championship in Spain, where he won over €100,000.
