Pena Cortes and Breytenbach win Club Championships titles in Abu Dhabi

A full field of 92 players compete in 36-hole two-day event at Abu Dhabi City Golf Club

Abu Dhabi: Last weekend saw the playing of the annual Club Championships, for both men and ladies at Abu Dhabi City Golf Club.

A full field of 92 players competed in the 36-hole, two day event.

The par 70, 6,307 yard course was very well protected by some very difficult pins on both days.

Day one leader was Wael Shami, who still led by two shots after 29 holes from Victor Pena Cortes. Victor then went birdie and hole-in-one on holes 12 and 13 on day two, to snatch the lead from Wael and finish the round in level par 70, for a two-round total of 145 (+5) winning by three shots from up and coming junior member, Paul Resko, who shot 148 (+8).

20-shot victory

Lizette Breytenbach Lizette, a former ADCGC Club Champion in 2018, cruised to a 20-shot victory (166) in the 2022 Ladies Club Championship Division.

There were numerous other trophies and prizes to be awarded with Craig Bruce winning the overall net division on a countback from Wael Shami and Mohamad Rahman with a total net score of 140.

Inka Stever won the ladies net with a 138 total.
