Dubai-based Yash Majmudar wins Singapore Open Amateur Championship
24-year-old qualifies for Asian Tour’s International Series next month
Dubai: Dubai-based Yash Majmudar (India), representing Jumeirah Golf Estates, won the 74th edition of the Singapore Open Amateur Championship at Tanah Merah Country Club, Singapore.
The 24-year-old member of JGE, who plays off a +5 handicap, the 2022 Jumeirah Golf Estates Men’s Club Champion, shot a four round total of 291 over the Tampines Course in Singapore.
With this win, Majmudar qualified to play in the Asian Tour’s International Series – Singapore (ISS), to be played at Tanah Merah Country Club, August 11-14 2022 with a prize fund of $1.5 million.
This Asian Tour event with OWGR points will be played on the same golf course, the Tampines Course. Current confirmed entries for this tournament include Dubai based Jeev Milkha Singh, MG Keyser (Jumeirah Golf Estates) and Shiv Kapur.
Majmudar held a two-shot lead heading into the final hole of normal play but made a double bogey to finish in a three-way tie, and extend the tournament to a three man sudden-death play-off.
Finishing alongside Majmudar in regulation play was Hanoi SEA Games bronze medallist Weerawish Narkprachar of Thailand and Isaac Lam of Hong Kong.
Majmudar made a par in extra holes to win the tournament in the play-off.
