Monaco slip up again in Ligue 1

Winless run extends to seven games in all competitions

Paris: Monaco did not have a single shot on target and slumped to a 1-0 loss to Angers in the French league on Tuesday, remaining winless at their home ground since May.

With just six points from seven games, Monaco is already lagging 12 points behind leaders Paris St-Germain.

Monaco were runners-up behind PSG last season, but have been hampered by injuries in recent weeks and the hole left by Fabinho’s departure to Liverpool during the off-season has not been filled. In the absence of the rock-solid defensive midfielder, centre-backs Kamil Glick and Jemerson have been struggling.

The result lifted Angers to ninth place in the standings, four points above Monaco.

Nantes lost 2-1 to Nice at home while St-Etienne continued their resurgence to climb into third place with a 3-2 win at Toulouse.
