This is a 2009 oil-on-canvas called Devolved Parliament. In 2019, it became Banksy's most expensive to date, selling for £9.9 million at Sotheby's in London. On the post, the artists writes: “Devolved Parliament. I made this ten years ago. Bristol museum have just put it back on display to mark Brexit day. Banksy likes to be anonymous, has been since the 1990s. But every once in a while he comes out to interact with fans. Back in 2013, the artist was in New York and set up shop, selling ‘fake Banksys’ for about $60 each. (Some got discounts.) He posted a video of the buys, saying "Yesterday I set up a stall in the park selling 100% authentic original signed Banksy canvases. For $60 each.". Considering his pictures sell for a few hundred thousand a piece, well, someone got quite a deal. Image Credit: Instagram

Banky owns a signature style. In 2018, it was this distinctive style that helped Parisians spot a number of paintings that started sprouting up in Paris. One of these paintings shows a young black girl spraying a pink pattern over a swastika on a wall next to her sleeping bag and teddy bear, an attempt to make her spot, even if it is on the curbside, cozier. So here’s what happened. In 2018, the work was up for auction at Sotheby's, selling for £1,042,000 – a record high for the artist. The copy was suddenly shredded while under the hammer, thanks to a mechanical device Banksy had added to the frame. The artist called the result of this the birth of a new artwork. He called it Love is in the Bin. Sotheby said it was "the first work in history ever created during a live auction." Image Credit: Instagram
