Fire breaks out in UAE residential building, 150 people evacuated

Fujairah Civil Defence said the fire happened in a kitchen at around 8pm

150 people from 42 apartments were evacuated from their homes on Tuesday night after a fire broke out in the residential building. Fujairah Civil Defence said the fire started from a kitchen from a seventh floor apartment. The incident happened at around 8.03 pm at Al Khail building, in the Al Hilal area of Fujairah city. Col. Khaled Rabie Al Hamoudi, Acting Director of the Fujairah Civil Defense Department, said a team of firefighters were immediately dispatched to the scene and were able to successfully extinguish the fire, and prevent it from spreading. Col. Khaled Al Hamoudi also stressed the need to adhere to the safety requirements in commercial and residential buildings, and urged residents to leave their personal belongings and evacuate the premises as soon as they hear a fire alarm go off.
