SHOULD UAE INVESTORS DITCH ‘RISK’? Stick with the knowns – and do cut out the risks. It’s that sort of week, and it could take longer for calm to return. So, what should UAE investors be looking at? Anything that comes with the promise of heavy dividends, carefully worked out growth plans. On other traditional assets, stick with a heavy dose of due diligence. Ease up on the debt load, because it’s going to start getting painful if you aren’t. Global central banks are still trying to get their heads over tamping down inflation. UAE-OMAN TIES A MODEL OF FRIENDSHIP: On his state visit to Oman yesterday, President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan described the relations between the two countries as a shared socio-cultural fabric. The neighbourly nations, its leaders and peoples have deep love for one another. The President’s visit recalled the special bond enjoyed by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan of the UAE and the late Sultan Qaboos bin Said of Oman. Bilateral relations and trade are now poised to soar even higher under the guidance of the current leaders, setting an example to be followed. WINNING SHOULD NOT COME THROUGH UNFAIR MEANS: Cheating is a scourge that is affecting sports in a big way. Cheating is done in various ways and methods. Drugs are used to boost the performance, to keep the mind calm, sometimes even the sportsmen underperform for monetary benefits. Now Magnus Carlsen has accused his rival Hans Niemann of using dubious ways to win following their chess games at the Sinquefield Cup. All these reports and accusations are shaking the basic tenets of the sport. It’s time that the authorities adopt even stringent measures and educate the youth about the right way of playing the sport. DEEPIKA’S RECENT HOSPITALIZATION - A CAUTIONARY TALE: Last evening, reports poured in that Bollywood A-lister Deepika Padukone was rushed to the hospital after she complained of uneasiness. It’s the second time in six months that Padukone – one of India’s most in-demand and bankable stars – had to head to the emergency. Rapid breathing was reportedly one of the reasons why she decided to get the doctors involved. While it’s commendable that Deepika – who’s currently working on projects with Shah Rukh Khan and Prabhas – has a lot on her plate, her body might be giving her cues to take it easy. In the last few months, several celebrities have decelerated their rapid pace of working in order to concentrate on their health. Perhaps, the ‘Gehraiyaan’ star should ideally take it slow and not let work overwhelm her.
