From the Editors: Pence-Harris faceoff was a gentle debate with few learning points In the IPL the high-flying Delhi Capitals are in the prime position now Published: October 08, 2020 12:05 Compiled by Devadasan K P, Picture Editor 1 of 4 HAPPY WORLD EGG DAY: The importance of eating eggs has hit the headlines again ahead of World Egg Day tomorrow. But like everything else, the umpteen theories on the long-vouched benefits of this humble food item have invited their share of counter-theories too as research advances. Never mind the white vs yellow debate, the merits and demerits of eggs have been broken down to how we eat them too. Hard-boiled, scrambled, sunny-side up or poached - there’s invariably a set of plus and minus points that go with it. So where does that leave us? The answer perhaps lies in taking the good old grandma’s advice: Eat everything, but in moderation. In fact, most of the time it was too civil and the contestants even got away without answering pointed questions. There were nine topics in 90 minutes ranging from the fight against the coronavirus to the economy, China and racial justice and most of the answers were on expected lines. Harris, the former attorney-general of California, came out marginally stronger in the debate, but it is unlikely that it will have an impact on voters sitting on the fence.[COMMENT BY: Alex Abraham, Senior Associate Editor] Image Credit: AP 3 of 4 The high-flying Delhi Capitals are in prime position for full points as they take on struggling Rajasthan Royals in the IPL in Sharjah on Friday. Currently the only team to have never appeared in an IPL final, Delhi have this season displayed a certain tenacity under captain Shreyas Iyer and head coach Ricky Ponting, and sit top of the points standings alongside Mumbai Indians. Now they have a great chance to consolidate against an unravelling Royals side. The star has performed all over the world, and even has two Netflix specials to his name. Das is known for taking a political stand even if he faces backlash for it, and has a wonderful comedic delivery. It’s refreshing to know that he’s going to bring his brand of humour to a live show in the city, of course with all the precautions in place. There’s nothing quite like a night of belly laughs to lift our spirits amid such bleak times. [COMMENT BY: Jennifer Barretto, Assistant Editor – Features] Image Credit: IANS
