DO NOT MISS TO REGISTER FOR MANDATORY UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE: The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has once again reminded all eligible employees to subscribe to the country’s mandatory Unemployment Insurance Scheme before the June 30 deadline. The insurance scheme also known as “Involuntary Loss of Employment (ILOE)” scheme offers low-cost job security net. Eligible categories of employees need to pay up to only Dh120 to get up to Dh20,000 monthly financial compensations for up to three months until they find a new job, if they lose their job due to reasons other than disciplinary action or resignation. WORLD FACES EXTREME HEAT SPELL: The UN has issued a dire warning that the years 2023 to 2027 are on track to become the hottest five-year period, with a two-thirds chance of surpassing the 1.5-degree Celsius target set in the Paris climate agreement. This alarming trend is being attributed to the rise of greenhouse gases and the emergence of an impending El Nino event. The consequences of this unprecedented temperature surge are expected to have far-reaching impacts on health, food security, water management, and the environment, emphasising the urgent need for preparedness and action in the face of escalating global warming. MANCHESTER CITY SHOWING QUALITY OF CHAMPION TEAM: Manchester City are proving to be unstoppable this season. Pep Guardiola’s men thrashed Real Madrid 4-0 in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League semifinals second leg to stamp their authority among the European elite and exact a revenge against the Madridistas, bringing the 14-time champions to submission. And the defending English Premier League champions have achieved it without their top-scorer Erling Haaland delivering as several of his attempts were saved by Real goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois. Such is the quality in Manchester City ranks, fans were on their feet at the Etihad Stadium.
