Dubai: Earlier this year, the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) announced that the Emirates ID has a new registration form, which allows residents to track their application’s status and also change the appointment date for their fingerprint and biometric scan.

According to the announement, the new registration form has been updated to simplify the application process.

“Within the strategic objectives of the Authority for service developments to meet the customers' needs, we developed the Emirates ID Card Registration Form to reflect the visual identity and facilitate customer procedures,” ICP stated in the video.

Seven new updates to the Emirates ID form

Here are the new updates to the Emirates ID form, according to ICP:

  1. Redesigning the form in line with ICP’s visual identity.
  2. Including the applicant’s picture in the form.
  3. Adding a Quick Response (QR) code to track the status of the Emirates ID application.
  4. Providing details on the steps for applying for the Emirates ID, which includes providing the applicant’s biometric data and receiving their medical test result.
  5. Adding the name of the courier company delivering the Emirates ID.
  6. Providing a QR code for the ‘Customer Voice Gateway’. Applicants can scan the code, which will take them directly to the ‘Customer Voice Gateway’ web portal, which handles complaints and queries related to ICP services.
  7. There is also another QR code that allows the applicant to modify the date for the Emirates ID fingerprint scan.

Gulf News also spoke to Dubai-based typing centres to find out more about the new changes to the Emirates ID application.

“After the typing centre fills out the application online and submits it on the ICP website, they will print out the registration form and give it to the applicant,” Shavad Tharavattath, manager at Multy Hands Businessmen Services, said.

Applicants can then use the new features of the application form to get details about their application and the steps they need to follow next.
