Paris Haute Couture Week - Day Two

Pharrell Williams opened Chanel’s surreal haute couture show in Paris on Day Two

For its fall-winter 2023 show, Chanel designer Virginie Viard created a line of vintage-inspired dresswear with relaxed cuts, plenty of tweed and few high heels on the runway. The traditional look was set against a backdrop of a stunning set dreamt up by artist Xavier Veilhan and hosted in a horse club outside Paris.

Chanel stole the show on Day Two, with Guests included Keira Knightley, Sigourney Weaver and Maggie Gyllenhaal, who were treated to a pastel coloured 1930’s flashback with Chanel’s sophisticated skirts and gowns.

Giorgio Armani closed Day Two with a stunning display, contrasting the dreamy setting of Chanel’s show. Armani, now 88, appeared for a brief moment after sending out models wearing dresses and jackets and yet more floral themes in a dark and moody presentation attended by the exclusive few. This time, like Chanel, Armani’s inspiration went back to the 1930s for the relaxed trousers and ornamental gowns.

Stay tuned for Day Three and more from the world’s best couturiers including the finest regional talent like Elie Saab and Zuhair Murad.
