“I could write a whole book on black,” remarked legendary couturier Christian Dior in his Little Dictionary of Fashion published nearly 70 years ago. Christian Dior has always celebrated the colour black for its versatility, saying that it can be worn anywhere and any time and what’s more, on any occasion.a timeless new take on a two-decade old icon

Now Dior Joaillerie’s Artistic Director, Victoire de Castellane, has designed a new timepiece that celebrates this Dior heritage. The new La D de Dior Black Ultramatte watch is the latest all-black creation in a line that goes back to 2003 when Dior first launched the model imagined as “a ribbon that tells time.”

Since then the watch has become a Dior icon, and the new La D de Dior Black Ultramatte launches it into a contemporary and timeless style. Featuring a 34-millimeter case the watch is available with a black diamond-set bezel or a diamond-like carbon coated version. The strap is a stainless steel Milanese mesh with a “Satine” pattern finish, again coated with diamond-like carbon for the Ultramatte look.

The watch starts from around $4100 for the 16-diamond model, while the diamond-set bezel version with 68 stones costs $6,500.
