Illegaly caught endangered migratory birds seized in Sharjah

EPAA also confiscated illegal bird-calling devices used to capture birds

Sharjah: Authorities in Sharjah have seized several endangered migratory birds and also confiscated illegal bird-calling devices during a coordinated raid in Al Buhayis region.

The Environment and Protected Areas Authority (EPAA), in coordination with local authorities, confiscated ten curlews and one houbara bustard, both of which are listed as endangered species.

In addition, two devices used to mimic bird calls were seized. These tools prohibited under Resolution No. (12) of 2014, which bans the possession, sale, and use of such devices in Sharjah.

The EPAA has warned people against using of illegal devices to capture endangered birds.
