PHOTOS: All the action from the EAGL Mini-Series in Dubai

The EAGL Mini-Series nine-hole competition served up a classic on the Fire Course at Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai.

Eight teams of four players — including a Gulf News team, the English Roses — competed in this individual matchplay format.

There was no handicap and all 32 players played off level or scratch.

It was a hot day, but the players knew they were playing for silverware.

India legend and golf pro Shiv Kapur took the ceremonial first tee shot to get us under way

The players revelled in the pro atmosphere despite the sweltering heat

The competition was streamed live on gulfnews.com and also broadcast on Dubai Sports

There was a real competition vibe as the players raised their game for the cameras

Thankfully, the buggies kept the competitors out of the baking heat most of the time

Even Mark Rix, of Gulf News and English Roses, had to dig deep

Other approaches left the players with more simple tap-ins. Although we saw many lip-outs including Kabir Luthra of Indian Lions

Chris Nelson of Abu Dhabi Roars also made a winning statement

The heat was a major factor as the players reached the 18th

And there was almost relief as they departed the final hole, with AC and refreshing drinks awaiting at the JGE clubhouse

The English Roses' Melissa Williams took on Dubai Tigers' Jaishree Gupta in an all-female clash

The competition was played in joviality and in the true spirit of the game

We are all set now for onwards and upwards with EAGL - the sky is the limit ...
