Siemens to develop security infrastructure for Expo 2020 Dubai and beyond
Dubai: Siemens, the appointed partner for Expo 2020 Dubai’s infrastructure digitalisation, has devised a single user interface that will hold data relevant to keeping you, the visitors, safe.
The Siveillance Control Pro, Siemens’ Security Management System (SMS), will store footage from up to 15,000 surveillance cameras and information from 3,500 access control readers. This includes keeping track of Expo’s fire alarms, communication systems, vehicle and person location systems and conducting video analyses via Artificial Intelligence (AI).
“All relevant information is available to the Expo Command and Control Centre at all times,” Monir Kabiri, Siemens’ head of security portfolio in the Middle East and Asia-Pacific region, said.
Live surveillance in case of emergency
All security personnel on Expo's 438-hectare site will have access to the Siveillance Control Pro mobile app as well. This way, they would be able to see what the control centre sees. The control centre will also be aware of security personnel’s locations at all times.
Through the Siveillance Control Pro, the control centre operator would be able to view live footage from surveillance cameras and keep an eye on doors and control systems in their immediate vicinity. In case of an emergency, to ensure the operator’s timely reaction, the app would present the option to call the emergency response centre, dispatch nearby security personnel or begin evacuation.
Moreover, according to Kabiri, through the app’s in-built navigation system, security will take lesser time to arrive on the scene as it guides them along the shortest route.
Siemens MindSphere to connect 130-plus buildings
Siemens will also introduce its smart city app, MindSphere, which connects Expo 2020 Dubai to the Internet of Things (IoT). The cloud-based application would store data captured from not only the site’s security systems, but all of the site's infrastructure, having already begun with environmental monitoring and irrigation.
The MindSphere solution plays an important role in fulfilling Expo 2020’s goals for energy efficiency, visitor comfort, safety and security as the operating system will optimise more than 130 buildings on site: all three Thematic Districts (Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability), their Thematic Pavilions, most country pavilions and the Dubai Exhibition Centre (DEC).
While Siveillance Control Pro will be repurposed to form the security solutions for District 2020, the smart community that will emerge from Expo in October, 2022, Siemens' other smart building technologies will, too, remain.
