Syrian couple names baby girl ‘Sharjah’
Sharjah: A Syrian expat couple has named their newly-born baby girl ‘Sharjah’ as a token of appreciation and gratitude to the emirate of Sharjah and the UAE.
Assad Ebrahim Mohammad, the father, told Gulf News: “We are extremely happy to be living such special moments in our lives. We decided to name our newly-born girl Sharjah as a token of appreciation and gratitude to the emirate of Sharjah and the UAE. We have been happily living in the UAE for the past 18 years.”
The couple also has a six-year-old boy named Qayser. Baby ‘Sharjah’ was delivered at Al Qasimi Hospital in Sharjah on Thursday.
Dr Safia Al Khaja, director of the new Al Qasimi Women’s and Children’s Hospital, told Gulf News: “We are very proud to witness the birth of Al Qasimi’s first baby. This is an important moment for us at Al Qasimi and we share the great joy with the newborn’s family. On behalf of Al Qasimi Hospital, I would like to wish the family a healthy and prosperous life.”
She added: “We introduced a new service to all parents that birth certificates and other documents of the babies are issued by the hospital to parents before they leave the hospital.”
