Muhammar or Bahraini sweet rice

This beloved Bahraini dish can be eaten as a side dish with fried fish or even as a dessert



PREP TIME 14 m
COOK TIME 20m
SERVES 6
Ingredients

    1.3l water

    500gm of honey dates syrup

    3 green cardamom pods

    3 cinnamon sticks

    3 cloves

    1kg basmati rice

    2 tbsp ghee

     

Ingredient Substitution Guide

METHOD

1. In a pot, add the water, dates syrup, cardamom, cinnamon sticks and cloves.

2. Add the basmati rice and stir gently until boiled.

3. Add ghee, cover it and slow cook for 14 minutes. Serve.
