Sheikh Hamdan approves 3D-printed zone at Dubai Expo 2020 site
Area to include a research centre, an academy, laboratories, and 3D-printed accelerators
Dubai: Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Executive Council, on Sunday approved the establishment of a 3D-printed district at the Dubai Expo 2020 site.
The designated 3D-printed area will include a research centre, an academy, laboratories, and 3D-printed accelerators, thereby making it an integrated global platform to attract investors and entrepreneurs from across the world.
Sheikh Hamdan approved the chaired the 3D-printed district as he chaired a meeting of the Executive Council.
“Thanks to the forward-looking vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the emirate of Dubai has become a key global player in the field of future technologies,” Sheikh Hamdan said.
He also highlighted Dubai’s leading position as an incubator for innovators and entrepreneurs in all fields, entrenching its status as an integrated city combining the promising future and the rapid development witnessed by the world.
Sheikh Hamdan approved a policy to attract international universities to set up branches in Dubai. The policy was submitted by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority.
“The world-class infrastructure and supportive legislation has made Dubai home to 28 branches of international universities,” he said, adding that Dubai is seeking to attract more prestigious educational institutions.
