Dubai: The Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) is out to create a uniquely localised experience, using sustainable materials in what remained of a stone structure constructed during the 1960’s.

Developed under the “Sharjah Collection” brand, and operated by Mysk by Shaza, Shurooq has transformed the site into a boutique luxury destination, which includes Al Faya Retreat, The Kingfisher Retreat, and Al Badayer Retreat.

The latest addition to the revitalisation project is The Chedi Al Bait, the emirate’s first five-star luxury and heritage hotel developed by Shurooq and managed by GHM.

The property is built on the original foundations of old 19th century coral stone houses, historical pathways to souqs and facilities, and the only round wind tower in the UAE, dating 100 years and called “Barjeel”.
