New $18 million Malabar Gold manufacturing unit opens in West Bengal
Dubai: Malabar Gold & Diamonds has launched its first jewellery manufacturing facility in West Bengal, India. The $18 million manufacturing unit was inaugurated by Dr. Shashi Panja, Minister-Of-State, (IC), Industries, Commerce & Enterprises, Child Development and Women Development & Social Welfare Department, Government of West Bengal.
Spanning 50,000 sq ft within the Gems and Jewellery Park, Ankurhati, this unit assembles over 850 skilled artisans crafting an exquisite array of jewelry—gold, diamonds, and precious gemstones. The facility, aligned with ESG principles, boasts advanced tech and a yearly output capacity of 4 tonnes of jewelry and 36,000 ct. of diamond-studded pieces.
“West Bengal is one of the major jewellery manufacturing hubs and the state has a deep-rooted tradition of excellent workmanship. The state boasts of the largest number of skilled artisans and goldsmiths in India,” said M P Ahammed, Chairman, Malabar Group. “The unit will play a key role in our mission, ‘Make in India. Market to the World.’”
As an ode to tradition and progress, this marks Malabar’s tenth unit in India, fostering local craftsmanship and innovation.
