Bringing the courtroom to life: LLB Law (Hons) at DMU Dubai
The DMU Dubai campus at Dubai International Academic City plans to provide valuable exposure to the real-world environment for LLB Law (Hons) students joining the programme in October 2021. The programme aims to provide students a dedicated law environment, which includes a mock courtroom, law clinic, client interviewing room and an integrated law library that will simulate a real-time courtroom experience.
Dr Washad Emambocus, Subject Head for Business and Law (BAL) at DMU Dubai said: “This specialised, fully-qualifying law degree provides you with the classic route to training as a legal professional. It focuses on criminal law and criminal justice, giving you knowledge of how the criminal justice system works, an understanding of crime and its effects on society, and how you as a legal professional can develop strategies to combat or prosecute against it.”
The DMU Law degree is recognised by the Solicitors Regulation Authority and the Bar Standards Board, which makes it a qualifying Law degree covering the academic stage of training for solicitors and barristers. The programme which is set to start in DMU Leicester's Dubai campus in October, also offers a huge range of learning technologies, including Blackboard, Collaborate Ultra, DMU Replay, MS Teams, Turnitin and more.
Apart from this, students can avail the extensive online collection of resources accessible from the DMU Leicester website, e-books, specialised databases and electronic journals and films which can be remotely accessed from anywhere they choose.
Students at the Dubai campus will also be offered the opportunity to transfer their studies to the UK campus at the end of each academic year.
Geared for Global Careers
The Law degree also supports students who have other career plans such as business and legal, public sector, banking, charity, journalism, human resources amongst others as it offers many transferable skills that include negotiations, analysis, problem-solving and a great understanding of law that are suited to these careers.
DMU takes student employability seriously and DMU Leicester’s careers and employability service, known as DMU Works, was awarded the Best University Careers/Employability Service at the National Undergraduate Employability (NUE) Awards in UK February 2021.
DMU Works helps students gain the skills and qualities that today’s employers are looking for through placement opportunities with local, national and global companies. The university’s law graduates have gone on to careers in globally-renowned organisations such as Pinsent Masons, D Young & Co, Bobby Dhanjal Legal Services, Disney, Wilkin Chapman LLP Solicitor, Enterprise Rent-A-Car and Shoosmiths.
