Pagani Zonda Riviera sold for $5.5 million at Riyadh Season car auction

During the Riyadh Season car auction held by Silverstone Auctions, a Pagani Zonda Riviera was sold for a whopping $5.5 million while a Bugatti Chiron Sport 110 ANS fetched $3.4 million.

The catalogue of cars that went under the hammer included all manner of Lamborghinis, Ferraris and McLarens, in fact, the Riyadh Season car show witnessed vintage, rare, customized, futuristic and classic cars brought in from all over the world. Motoring enthusiasts with deep pockets had plenty to choose from however from the 68 cars that crossed the auction block, just 18 found new homes but even though the 26 per cent sale rate seemed a little low, the auction brought in $16.75 million from total sales.

The biggest success was the carbon-fibre-clad 760 horsepower Zonda Riviera featuring an AMG 7.3-litre M297 V12. It was the first Zonda to feature in a public auction since 2011 when a Zonda C12 sold for £320,500.

The Chiron Sport 110 ANS was the next bestseller, fetching $3.4 million, but sadly nobody found room in their hearts (or dream garages…) for some of the most incredible performance cars ever produced. The likes of the Porsche 918 Spyder Weissach, Lamborghini Diablo VT, McLaren P1 Carbon Edition, Ferrari 599 GTZ Zagato Nibbio Spyder and Mercedes-Maybach S600 Pullman amongst a clutch of other high-profile supercars didn’t find a buyer this time...
