Valentino has made several strides when it comes to supporting arts and culture, and as part of its efforts, the Maison is sponsoring the Italian Pavilion at the 59th Venice Biennale. Providing additional support will be Valentino’s Creative Director Pierpaolo Piccioli and Chief Executive Officer Jacopo Venturini, who will bolster the efforts of the curator Eugenio Viola and artist Gian Maria Tosatti for the Italian Pavilion at the 59th International Art Exhibition of Biennale di Venezia.

In what is a first for the Italian Pavilion at the Biennale at the Tese delle Vergini in the Arsenale of Venice, there will be just one artist who will represent all of Italy – an immense feat indeed.

Interestingly, the location of the Italian Pavilion, is exactly where Pierpaolo Piccioli presented his Couture Show in July 2021 -- Valentino Des Ateliers. In line with the brand’s vision, the project sought to spark a conversation with emerging contemporary artists. Valentino had also sponsored the 49th International Theatre Festival -- Biennale Teatro 2021 on that occasion.

Expectedly, Piccioli’s latest effort is also an ode to the city of Venice and to its culture. He has had a genuine leaning for the art, theatre, music, architecture, cinema, and everything creative that has emerged from that city.

For Piccioli, Venice is the natural perceptive scenario for a conversation between art and fashion where a creative mind can envision its creations, according to a statement from the brand.

Artist Gian Maria Tosatti and Pierpaolo Piccioli share the same belief that creativity thrives when there is shared curiosity and there is concerted effort to build a community that is vocal and indulges in dialogue.

Tosatti’s work melds a plurality of languages, which includes literary references to the visual arts, spanning all the way from theater to music and performance arts.

Meanwhile, the curator Eugenio Viola will propose a project that acts as a powerful statement on contemporaneity, giving a daring interpretation of present times.

The 59th Biennale, goes under the moniker of ‘The Milk of Dreams’ and will be open until November 27, 2022.
