Saudi Arabia: Wild animal possession attracts 10 years in jail, SR30m fine

Dubai: Saudi Arabia is warning against possession of wild animals with a hefty fine of up to 30 million Saudi riyals or 10-year jail term, local media reported.

According to the Kingdom’s environmental protection rules, the possession of prey animals is prohibited and violators will be dealt with in cooperation between the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture and the Ministry of Interior.

Offenders will be slapped with either a fine of up to 30 million riyals, or imprisonment of 10 years.

The Kingdom has attached great attention to wildlife by launching initiatives to protect the environment and issued regulations to preserve protected areas of wildlife to regulate the possession, trading, hunting and breeding of wild and dangerous animals.
