Saudi Arabia: Man runs over wife in Mecca a week after wedding
He threw her out of the car, smashed her head with a rock before knocking her down
Abu Dhabi: A Saudi man threw his wife out of the car he was driving, hit her with a rock, before running over and killing her in Mecca, police said.
The man, in his 30s, fled the scene after the gruesome crime on Wednesday, but was later arrested, a spokesperson of the Mecca Police said on its Twitter account.
The suspect was taken into custody before moving to the Public Prosecution, pending further investigation and trial, police said.
Okaz reported the man killed his wife a week after the wedding by smashing her head with a rock on the Hawiyah - Taif road.
“The husband was driving with his wife Rawan Al Ghamdi back to Taif. When they reached near a fence, he stopped the vehicle, hit his wife with a rock, left her covered in blood, and fled the scene,” Okaz reported.
The man will be examined for drugs and mental disorders, the newspaper said.
