Cairo: Egyptian President Abdul Fattah Al Sissi and Saudi Crown Prince met in the Egyptian resort town of Sharm Al Sheikh as part of growing ties between the two allied Arab countries.

Al Sissi said their talks on Friday focused on ways of developing relations between Cairo and Riyadh.

“We share identical views on regional and international issues of mutual interest,” the Egyptian leader said in a post on his Facebook account, coupled with a photo of the meeting.

“I emphasise my constant pride in the distinguished relations binding Egypt and Saudi Arabia at both official and public levels,” Al Sissi added.

Saudi Arabia is a major diplomatic and financial backer of Egypt. Ties between the two regional heavyweights have grown since Al Sissi took office in 2014.
