Dubai: The Royal Oman Police (ROP) on Thursday rescued 28 seafarers who were on board 13 boats after engines of their boats broke down off sea, local media reported.

According to a statement issued online by ROP, the Coast Guard police responded to distress calls by stranded sailors in Muscat, Musandam, North Al Batinah and Dhofar.

The Royal Oman Police advise boat owners to carry out regular maintenance of their boats, take an adequate amount of fuel, ensure the presence of safety tools and conduct first aid before going sailing to avoid such troubles.

First aid was provided to the stranded sailors after being rescued, the statement added.
