Pakistan: American woman lies on Islamabad Airport floor in protest as authorities refuse her entry

Dubai: An elderly American woman protested by lying on the floor of the Islamabad Airport on Sunday, after officials tried to deport her.

The woman was identified as 70-year-old Murray Maude born in Washington, US. She reportedly arrived at Islamabad International Airport in Pakistan on a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight from Manchester, Geo Tv reported.

The woman was allegedly blacklisted by authorities in Pakistan. When the airport staff tried to deport her, the woman started screaming and lay on the floor of the airport in protest. She was seen on her wheelchair in the photos ciruculated on social media.

However, it was not clear why she was blacklisted and barred from entry into Pakistan. The US Embassy in Islamabad was contacted and called at the airport to resolve the issue.

Using tongue and check humour, social media users starting making fun of the incident as well. “Look, foreigners have started coming to Pakistan .....” said a netzian on twitter.

Early this year, another American woman, Sonia Sita, had also been deported from Islamabad airport. The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had said the woman reached the Islamabad airport without obtaining a visa.
