India: Kerala man slashes leopard after being attacked, locals kill it

Villagers of Mankulam in Idukki alerted Forest Department about the animal but to no avail

Thiruvananthapuram: A leopard that was a nightmare for the villagers at Mankulam in Idukki district has been killed after a man who was attacked, slashed it with a knife.

Angry local residents, meanwhile, got together and killed the leopard.

The incident occurred on Friday night when Gopalan was attacked by the leopard which had earlier in the day devoured two goats.

This particular leopard has been roaming around for a while and the Forest Department had been alerted.

But late at night, the leopard attacked Gopalan, who slashed it with a knife and soon, the locals joined in and killed it.

“I had no option and I did it to save my life,” said Gopalan who is convalescing at a hospital after suffering injuries in the attack.
