Smart robot trial to detect violations
Aiming to enhance road safety and enforce regulations, Dubai will deploy a smart robot in March to detect violations committed by bicycle and electric scooter users.
On Thursday, RTA unveiled a new AI-powered robot that will be deployed in March to monitor the use of bicycles and electric scooters and identify potential violations.
The smart robot, equipped with AI, will monitor bicycle and electric scooter usage, identifying and sharing potential violations with the Dubai Police for collaborative analysis.
This includes detecting a range of infractions such as:
- Large gatherings
- Failure to wear safety equipment like helmets
- Leaving scooters in unauthorised areas
- Carrying multiple riders on one scooter
- Riding scooters in pedestrian-only zones
Equipped with advanced technology and adhering to strict safety standards, the robot boasts over 85% accuracy in violation detection, delivers data within 5 seconds, and boasts a remarkable surveillance range of up to 2 kilometers.
For enhanced safety and security, the robot is equipped with sensors that automatically halt its movement when within 1.5 meters of an object or individual.
