Dubai: One person has died and 10 others have been injured in separate traffic accidents across Dubai, officials said on Wednesday.

Colonel Jumaa Bin Suwaidan, Deputy Director, Traffic Department, Dubai Police, said the accidents happened due to not paying attention while driving, not leaving a safe distance between vehicles and due to tyre burst.

One fatality

The first accident happened at 1:45pm on Tuesday on Emirates Road towards Sharjah as a minibus rammed into the back of a pick-up halted in the middle of the road.

“One person died due to his severe injuries and seven others were injured as the two vehicles were damaged,” said Col Bin Suwaidan.

Series of accidents

The second accident occurred at 7:30pm on Tuesday in Ras Al Khor area when a minibus swerved suddenly and crashed into the road’s barrier. The driver sustained serious injuries. “Initial reports showed that the accident happened due to tyre burst,” added Col Bin Suwaidan.

“Drivers should check their vehicles before taking to the road, especially the tyres during the summer season,” Col Bin Suwaidan said.
