Ramadan in UAE: COVID safety rules announced in Abu Dhabi
Only permitted government and licensed entities are allowed to have Ramadan tents
Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee, in collaboration with Department of Health - Abu Dhabi and Abu Dhabi Public Health Center (ADPHC), has approved precautionary measures for the Holy Month of Ramadan.
The measures cover religious and social activities, to protect public health and the safety of all community members.
According to the general precautionary and preventative measures, face masks have must be worn indoors while remaining committed to social distancing, regularly washing and sanitizing hands and frequently sanitizing surfaces and equipment.
Measures relating to religious practices and activities include observing social distancing, wearing face mask and bring personal prayer mat at mosque, wearing suitable safety equipment when distributing Ramadan meals Using electronic payment methods where possible for donations and gifts. Only permitted government and licensed entities are allowed to have Ramadan tents. In addition, COVID-19 patients should consult a doctor before fasting.
Meanwhile, measures related to social activities include using digital platforms to send greetings where possible, taking extra consideration of high-risk people at public and family gatherings. Furthermore, group iftar and suhur gatherings are advised to be limited to family members that live in the same house and finally observing event-specific precautions when attending markets.
