Dh5,000 fine slapped on shop by Dubai Police for flouting COVID-19 safety rules
Dubai: Dubai Police have issued a Dh5,000 fine on a shop for organising a gathering without complying with the precautionary measures to curb COVID-19.
According to Dubai Media Office, Dubai Police, in cooperation with Dubai Department of Economic Development, busted the gathering as people were found not wearing masks and not adhering to social-distancing norms.
Each participant was fined Dh3,000 for not wearing masks and for not adhering to social distancing.
On Wednesday, Dubai Police had suspended a yacht operator's licence for a month and a Dh50,000 fine was also imposed for organising a private yacht party without complying with the COVID-19 precautionary measures. Dubai Police, in cooperation with Dubai Tourism, fined each participant Dh15,000.
According to Dubai Police, the private yacht party violated social distance rules. The rules regarding wearing of masks was also not followed at the party.
This was the second yacht party that was stopped by the police as the authorities continue to campaign against violators of COVID-19 safety guidelines.
Last Sunday, Dubai Police had busted another yacht party and issued a Dh50,000 fine on the operator.
