Shaikh Mohammad welcomes Eritrean President

They discussed ties of friendship and cooperation as well as regional and international issues of common interest



Abu Dhabi: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, yesterday received Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki.

They discussed ties of friendship and cooperation as well as regional and international issues of common interest.

Shaikh Mohammad and Afwerki explored avenues and opportunities of cooperation in economic, investment and development spheres and future prospects that serve the common interests of both nations and peoples.

Shaikh Mohammad lauded the historical “Jeddah Peace Accord” signed recently by Eritrea and Ethiopia, brokered by Saudi Arabia. He praised the efforts of King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz of Saudi Arabia and his role in establishing security, peace and stability in the Horn of Africa.

He reiterated that the UAE supports every effort that aims to solve conflicts between countries peacefully and contribute to achieving peace and stability in the region and entire world.

The Eritrean leader lauded Shaikh Mohammad’s efforts and initiatives for the promotion of peace and entrenching security and stability.
