Ecole Chantemerle: A positive and personalised approach to education

Founded in 1966 by Mathilde and Jean Wegmüller, Ecole Chantemerle is an international boarding school for boys and girls aged 6 to 18. Over the years, Chantemerle has acquired an international reputation for the high quality of its teaching and its personalised family atmosphere.

The chalet-like campus of the Chantemerle School is beautifully located near Lake Geneva and the Swiss Alps, on an amazing piece of land with a private forest and a river.

Academics

At Chantemerle, there is an emphasis on building strong academic foundations and “learning how to learn” more efficiently and in autonomy.

At the primary and middle school levels, Chantemerle prepares for the Swiss and French National diplomas as well as for admission into Swiss public high schools.

High school students at Chantemerle prepare for the Swiss maturity (public or private) or the International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma.

With a population of 65+ international and Swiss students, Chantemerle is often described as a “small big school”. The small class sizes mean every pupil receives personalised attention in a warm and family atmosphere.

Every student is allocated a tutor responsible for monitoring academic progress and for addressing any concerns that may occur. 

Boarding school

Chantemerle welcomes boarding and day school students from a range of backgrounds and cultures. Boarding students are housed in pleasant 2, 3 or 4-bedded rooms according to their age, gender and preferences. 

A team of experienced educators supervises the students, and a school nurse resides on the school premises to look into health-related issues.

Extracurricular activities

At Chantemerle, there is a strong belief that personal growth and well-being are just as important as academic success. Every day has its after-class activity programme in place that is coordinated by professional teachers and educators like sports, performing arts, cultural visit and excursions, artistic workshops etc.

Summer and winter camps

Throughout the school year and during summer, Chantemerle hosts residential educational camps for individual students and school groups with language courses (French, English, German); Science, robotics and entrepreneurship; Performance sports with Juventus soccer academy, Thabo NBA basketball camp and the Spirit of Tennis camp. 

It also offers a range of sports, arts and cultural activities and excursions with a two-day trip to Europa-Park.
