Dubai marks 25 years of journey of government excellence: Mohammed Bin Rashid

Dubai: His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai has said that Dubai is reaping the fruits its journey of government excellence, with advanced services, rewarding economic returns and highly qualified national cadres, said.

Sheikh Mohammed on Wednesday posted on his Twitter account a video clip, commenting as saying: “We started our journey of government excellence 25 years ago, and today we are reaping its fruits with advanced and international competitive services, economic returns and invaluable national cadres.”

The Vice-President said it took 25 years to change the institutional culture in Dubai. “25 years of work to change the institutional culture in Dubai. It was not an easy nor a quick journey but an enjoyable journey whose effects will remain for generations to come,” he added.

Reflecting further on the city’s progress, His Highness said: “When we established the Dubai Government Excellence Program in 1997, our goal was to develop our performance levels to match those of the private sector. Within a short period of time, the government sector in Dubai became a model for other sectors, and even other governments around the world. Thank you to everyone who contributed to achieving our goals. I would like to remind everyone that in the race for excellence there is no finish line."

“Our mission is to enhance human happiness and well-being and raise the quality of life. These goals will remain our top priorities. The exceptional government services that Dubai has developed over the past years provide a solid foundation for consolidating our leadership position, and we will continue to adopt innovative digital solutions to deliver government services that exceed people’s expectations,” His Highness added.

Abdulla Mohammed Al Basti, Secretary General of The Executive Council of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Government Excellence Program, stressed the prominent role played by the Dubai Government Excellence Program in realising the vision of Sheikh Mohammed; and the directives and diligent follow-up of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council, which have sought to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the government sector in Dubai, and maintain its global leadership status.

Al Basti added: “Over the course of 25 years, the Dubai Government Excellence Program has established new standards of excellence that promote innovation and efficiency. The Program has played a prominent role in promoting a culture of quality and capacity-building, enabling the Government of Dubai to explore new levels of competitiveness and achieve the highest rankings in various global competitiveness indicators.”

Dr. Hazza Khalfan Al Nuaimi, General Coordinator of the Dubai Government Excellence Program, congratulated Sheikh Mohammed on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Dubai Government Excellence Program’s establishment.

“Since its inception, the Program has achieved a series of outstanding milestones, which have enabled citizens, residents and visitors to have access to the world’s best services, leading to increased levels of happiness and wellbeing in the community. This would not have possible without the strategic vision of our leadership, and the efforts of the teams in the government entities who continue to set new benchmarks with the support of the Dubai Government Excellence Program.”

The Dubai Government Excellence Program was established in 1997 to be a key driving force in enhancing excellence in Dubai's government sector. The Program has contributed to a radical change in the performance, concepts, practices and management methods applied in the government sector. The Program has developed and implemented new standards and models of institutional and functional excellence designed to ensure continuous improvements in performance and service quality.
