New York: The United States condemned the deadly bombing in Damascus on Saturday and closed the consular section of its embassy for security reasons.
"We strongly condemn the bombing and all terrorist actions and send our condolences to the victims' families," said State Department spokesman Gordon Duguid.
He said the US Embassy's consular section, which issues visas, would be closed for all except "emergency services" for US citizens.
The embassy's consular section would re-open on October 5, he said.
