Amman: A court in Jordan has jailed a French citizen for three months for shouting insults in a taxi about King Abdullah and Jordan.
Muntaser Shehab, of Palestinian origin, was originally sentenced to a year, but the sentence was later commuted.
The court heard how he hurled insults at both Jordan and the King Abdullah during a taxi ride from his hotel to a money exchange office, according to the charge sheet. As the man exited the taxi, he continued shouting insults.
Shehab, who pleaded guilty, continued to lash out at the king while in police custody.
