Tehran: An Iranian Revolutionary Guard commander is calling on Islamic countries to use oil as a weapon to end the fighting in Gaza.
The Iranian suggestion this week echoed a similar call made last week by lawmakers in Bahrain.
The demands are unlikely to lead to an immediate embargo.
Oil prices recently fell to their lowest levels in years. Benchmark light, sweet crude is trading higher at $47.70. Traders say the Gaza violence is partly behind the rise.
This is a very dissappointing situation, it is not a war but an aggression by the Zionists on helpless people. Where is the Arab unity today? Like the Palestinians, the UNO is also helpless and for the first time the wolrd is watching the UNO that has no power. On the other side this shows how helpless some Arab nations are, and also the actions done by the US.

Not so very long ago, Iran's Nuclear Programme went public. There was a huge outcry from only a few nations and yet Iran was subject to sanctions among other things. Now, however, almost every nation cries out to Israel to stop its attacks on Gaza, yet there is negligible effective action from the International Community. Something is horribly wrong here.

One way or the other the current Gaza situation will end, but the Arab nations must adopt a long term strategy of shifting real world economy focus (emphasis on real) to the Middle East and then use the subtle powers of state to determine issues germane to the welfare of the region.

Today the world is a silent spectator, watching how the Palestinians are massacred by Israel on pretext of missiles fired by Hamas in their border town. More than five hundred people are killed in battle against four people who died in a rocket attack in Israel. Where is the US? There used to be more humanitarian steps taken. It is high time for Muslims to take action to stop killing innocent Palestinians in Gaza through oil and trade embargo against them.

It is indeed unfortunate that the Arab countries have no unity and direction amongst them to help resolve the Palestinian crisis. What can you say about the closure of the Crossing to Egypt thus denying thousands of civilian access to safety and shelter, and then Egypt tries to act as a peace broker. The UN is a toothless body and seeking a session there will help clear nothing. Watch and learn from the resolutions passed that Israel has rejected. What is needed is oil action that will get the West down to their knees. But who will bell the cat?

I completely agree. We should do something about this situation. I think countries should not provide oil to Israel and the US. I also think that we should get out of UN, which I think is biased.
