Beirut: Israeli planes have struck roads and bridges across Lebanon on Saturday, hours after Hezbollah's chief declared "open war" on them.

More than 67 people have been killed in the attacks launched by Israel since the capture of two Israeli soldiers by Hezbollah fighters on Wednesday.

Hezbollah fighters fired more than two dozen rockets at towns in northern Israel, slightly wounding several people. Four Israeli sailors are also missing after a naval ship was hit.

Israel has struck roads and flyovers in the north and in the eastern Bekaa Valley to try to seal Lebanon's land border with Syria.

It has also threatened the Lebanese government that the country could "pay a price as in the past", a clear reference to the Israel's 1982 invasion and occupation.

The Israeli army said on Saturday it had hit about 150 targets in Lebanon but fewer than than 12 of them were directly linked to Hezbollah.
