Baghdad: A car bomb killed five people and wounded 23 in a crowded market on Sunday in Haswa, 50 km outh of Baghdad, an interior ministry source said.
The bomb exploded in the main market of the mixed Sunni-Shiite village of Haswa, located between the restive town of Mahmudiyah and the provincial seat of Hilla.
The agricultural belt south of the capital, inhabited by Shiite villagers and Sunni tribes, has become notorious for sectarian battles.
